About Us
Dear Pastor's Wife, and the woman behind it.
More than a ministry, it's a community. Here's where it began.
Our story
It began with one woman's honesty.
Dear Pastor's Wife began with one woman's honesty. After more than twenty years as a pastor's wife, May Ijisesan sat down to write about the journey: the pressures, the quiet sacrifices, the longing to be seen and truly equipped, so that no pastor's wife would feel she was walking it alone.
Out of that experience came a book, and then a movement. Dear Pastor's Wife became a handbook for the modern-day pastor's wife and found women in ministry across the globe. Soon May was speaking, mentoring, and building, and a ministry was born for pastors' wives, women in ministry, and women in Christian leadership who carry the weight of a call and deserve to walk it out with strength and freedom.
May has served faithfully alongside her husband for over twenty-three years, together overseeing a global ministry with branches in North America, Europe, and Nigeria. An author, speaker, and technologist, she has written several books, including Dear Pastor's Wife, Silicon Valley Girl, The Supernatural Woman, and Wisdom for the Workplace, and brings a distinctly modern approach to ministry, believing the Church deserves both timeless truth and contemporary tools. She is the mother of two grown children and lives in Chicago with her husband.
Today, DPW equips pastors' wives and women in ministry through conferences, retreats, tea parties, and online resources: to lead well in ministry, in relationships, in understanding themselves, and in building healthy families in the public eye. Because the health of the Church begins with the health of the women who help hold it together. More than a ministry, it's a community, and you belong here.
